This recipe was developed to create training treats for my two puppies - Sammi and Stuart. It is a very easy recipe and the dogs seem to love the treats. The recipe may be used to make small training treats or larger cookies.
2-1/2 c whole wheat flour1/2 c dry powdered milk
1 stick margarine
1 egg
1/2 c water (or what is necessary to pull the batter together)
chicken (or beef) bouillon cube
1 t honey (optional)
1. Dissolve the bouillon cube in about 1/2 c water (microwave is the easiest and fastest method).
2. In a mixing bowl, combine all ingredients. The batter should be the consistency of cookie dough. If the batter is a bit soupy/sticky, add more flour. If the batter is dry, add more water.
3. Form the batter into 1/4" balls (for treats) or 3/4" balls (for cookies) and place on an un-greased baking sheet.
4. Bake at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes. Check at 20 minutes to make sure the cookies are not burning.
5. Let treats/cookies cool and store in an airtight container (zip-type bag) in the refrigerator.
