Be warned about the antique bird cages if you plan on putting a bird in them. These were treated with different finishes and paint. These have chemicals in them that is toxic and could kill your bird.

The most common chemicals that are found on the antique cages include a zinc and lead. Even if you remove the paint and sand it down, you still should not put your bird in it. Many birds enjoy chewing on things, so you should definitely not put him or her in this environment.
